The nude lips, eyes, and cheeks that are dominating spring makeup create a perfect backdrop for the season’s shining showstopper: pretty silver or gold accents for the eyes.
Go for a super subtle sheen by using a sheer wash of silver or gold shadow over the eyelids. A translucent eyeshadow like Paula Dorf Glimmer Eye Colors in Strapless and GoldDigger are solid choices (both $19). Plus, look out for the new Lorac Glam Rocks Loose Metallic Eye Shadow coming out April 15 ($16).
Eyeliner is also hot for spring, so combine two trends by enhancing eyes with a shiny line drawn across your lash line…just be sure to keep your eyeshadow toned down.
If you’re going to wear soft pink or cooler taupe shades, try a silver liner like Vincent Longo Eye Pencil in Silvertaupe Glimmer ($21.50) or Urban Decay Glide-On eye Pencil in Dime ($15).
If you’re digging warmer brown and cream shades, go for glimmering gold liner like Lorac Sparkle Pencil in 24K Gold ($16).
A word of caution: don’t go crazy smearing on any of the glittery stuff (except in certain situations, which I’ll save to write about later). The key here is to keep the look subtle. Your metallic liner should enhance your eyes with a soft pop of shimmer whenever you blink.
These soft spring metallic looks are all available from Beauty.com.
